PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Colleagues,

Many thanks to ISACA-RI's board member, officers, and you—our members—for having made ISACA-RI Chapter's inaugural year highly successful, given our small size and limited financial resources. We met our primary goals of increasing our membership by at least 10%* and of administering low-cost meetings in Rhode Island that covered IT audit, security, and control topics of current interest and yielded a total of 20 continuing education. (*We started with 79 members in July 2007and finished our fiscal year with 91.)

Since June 2008, ISACA-RI's board members have been busy working behind the scenes to improve our chapter's business and administration infrastructure and to acquire speakers and develop training sessions for our 2008-2009 training schedule independently and in collaboration with other professional associations to meet your training needs.

I encourage you to plan on attending as many ISACA-RI Chapter training events as possible during 2008-2009 to ensure our chapter's continued success in meeting our short- and long-term goals'.  Our ability to grow our chapter and enhance member services is entirely dependent on your participation in our chapter's events.

ISACA-RI Chapter's website received a bronze medal from ISACA International in recognition of the chapter having met International's fundamental website requirements, and we thank webmaster Tim Schmutzler for his efforts in having made that happen. However, ISACA-RI's board realizes the need to improve and enhance our website going forward to enable the chapter to have a higher-level web presence and communications mechanism. To facilitate that effort, we have applied for Small Chapter funding (up to $3,000) from International and will advise you if/when we hear their decision.

In the meantime, we plan to issue a newsletter quarterly to let you know what training events are imminent, to highlight important chapter business and administration developments, and to advise you of pertinent news from International.
